The range of software available on Athena is being systematically reduced. In August 2027, we will permanently shut down this software platform.
Athena uses Citrix technology to provide access to the software range, but this technology is outdated and expensive to maintain. We will continue to offer applications that are still widely used on Athena via an alternative platform (Business Portal or Academic Software), but open-source software and freeware will no longer be offered via a Ghent University platform.
Office 365 is already available to staff and students.
Applications not listed below (e.g. SAP) will be available on Athena until August 2027 at the latest.
